About Michael Zlabinger

Michael Zlabinger is an actor who has performed on television and in theater. He has appeared on hit TV shows such as Law & Order: SVU, Evil, Elementary, Madam Secretary, Person of Interest, Unforgettable, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

He made his New York theater debut in an Off-Broadway production of Alan Ball’s Five Women Wearing The Same Dress at the Flatiron Playhouse. His theater career has taken him to regional as well as international stages, performing everything from Shakespeare to Edward Albee to world premieres of comedies and dramas.

He has performed iconic theater roles such as the title role in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Leontes in The Winter’s Tale, Iago in Othello, Romeo in Romeo & Juliet, Torvald in A Doll’s House, Milo in Sleuth, and Orin the dentist in Little Shop of Horrors.

He has premiered many plays including the European premiere of Edward Albee’s The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? (directed by Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon) and the world premieres of Lee Blessing’s A View of the Mountains (a sequel to Blessing’s Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award-nominated A Walk in the Woods) and Jamie Pachino’s Splitting Infinity (starring opposite Tony Award winner Michael Rupert.)

He has performed at the Union Square Theatre, 59E59 Theaters, Long Wharf Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Baltimore Center Stage, Pioneer Theatre Company, Geva Theatre Center, and Vienna’s English Theatre, to name a few.

His many theater directors have included Pam MacKinnon, Michael Kahn, Rob Ruggiero, Melia Bensussen, Geoffrey Sherman, Charles Morey, Mark Cuddy, and Mladen Kiselov.

Born in Valdosta, Georgia, to an American mother and Austrian father, he spent his early years in Florida and Tennessee and his formative years in Vienna, Austria. Michael studied acting at The Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in Pittsburgh. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and dog.
